THE PLACEMENT Program PROCESS

TYPES OF SCHOOLS

High Schools

High Schools in North America typically encompass grades 9 to 12 and are categorized into four levels in ascending order: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior. Public schools in the US are tuition-free and funded by state funds. As a consulting group, we exclusively recommend private schools that provide boarding or host-family arrangements. These institutions often prioritize seasonal athletic programs lasting 3-5 months within an academic year.

Prep Programs

Prep schools, short for Preparatory Academies, are privately owned organizations that offer full-time athletic programs alongside academic curricula for High School students in grades 9-12 or Postgraduates in the 13th grade. These academies offer comprehensive boarding facilities that include two to three meals a day and daily transportation. The Post Grad (13th Grade) program provides student-athletes with an opportunity to enhance their academic, mental, physical, and game skills. Post grad teams participate in intensive travel schedules, competing against teams from various states and conferences to boost college recruitment exposure.

Colleges & Universities

In the United States, there are more than 7,021 colleges and universities that offer undergraduate programs, which may be a University Residential College providing 4-Year bachelor’s degrees or a Community Residential College that offers 2-Year Associate Degrees. The US is the world’s leading host of international students, offering quality education, a diverse curriculum, a multicultural environment, and abundant opportunities. College Sports provide student-athletes with scholarships, making for a unique aspect of student life on campus, and one of the most remarkable experiences that student athletes can have.

TOEFL & SAT

TOEFL is a necessary test for foreign students and measures how well the student knows English in 4
sections: Reading and Answering Questions, Listening, Speaking, Essay and Composition Writing.

The SAT is a necessary test for those wishing to attend a 4 year university. It’s divided into 3 sections: Math, Reading, Writing/Essay. Check website for more information: satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat

HIGHLIGHT

Having a basketball highlight video is the single most important thing you need to have in order to receive a sports scholarship. This highlight tape should showcase the strengths of your game and show all the best plays of the current or previous season. This video should be professional quality resolution and focus on the player and moves. It should be clearly organized and divided into showing different parts of the game (Shooting, passing, ball skills, defense, dunking, etc.) We must ensure that the video is interesting throughout and that it leaves coaches wanting to learn more about you after watching.
